is a perfect all day treat.
2oz. for $2.99 ~ 4oz. for $4.79 ~ 8oz. for $7.69
Cup Characteristics: Medium
bodied and flavoury with piquant Ceylon character. Blended with natural
flavor oils of vanilla and grenadine which impart a smooth and unique
heavenly flavour.
Certainly a ‘mysterious’ blend despite being a
delicious mixture of grenadine and vanilla. Perhaps first created by
Tibetan monks – infused with universal life energy, this tea is a
perfect all day treat; sweet and toasty with a touch of dryness and a
subtle bouquet. Originally, it is believed that this blend was developed
by monks to support their life’s desires, especially the work that they
did all by hand. Tea is an item that these monks considered good for the
soul. Franciscan monks used to drink this tea to keep them awake during
long periods of meditation. It is fair to say that this is an ancient
and harmonious blend, as it is also used by Buddhist and Taoist monks.

If you've never been to the grand Bazaar at
Marrakesh, you'll feel like you have once you brew a pot of this
delightful tea. The tantalizing blend of cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and
orange will delight your senses and make you feel as though you yourself
had wandered the market stalls browsing and haggling over spice prices.
The blend was originally conceived by the French Governor of Marrakesh
at the height of the French empire - hence the French name, Le Marché.
He served the tea to the foreign dignitaries who would regularly visit
his residence which was situated just a short walk from the Bazaar. He
loved the combination of spices for its ability to cool the body down in
the sultry Moroccan climate and the way it blended with the sweet
oranges the country is famous for. Sadly for Monsieur le Gouverneur, the
French lost their seat in old Morocco. Happily for the world in general
however, they left behind the recipe for this spicy blend. Pour yourself
a cup today mon ami and dream of Africa - North Africa that is. |

BUTTERED RUM
Loose Leaf Black Tea
No one is quite sure who first decided
to add butter to a cup of warm rum but we’re sure glad they did.
Black tea,
Elder blossom, Calendula petals, Natural flavours.
2oz. for $2.99 ~ 4oz. for $4.79 ~ 8oz. for $7.69
Cup Characteristics: The full
astringent taste of rum mellowed with a creamy smoothness. Black tea,
Elder blossom, Calendula petals, Natural flavours.
No one is quite sure who first decided to add
butter to a cup of warm rum but we’re sure glad they did. What is known
is that the drink was developed sometime in the 1800’s by fishermen
somewhere on the Eastern Seaboard. Cooks on board the fishing schooners
would usually make a quick breakfast of dried fish, bread, and whatever
else was available on board and provide a hot cup of buttered rum to
wash it down with. The warm drink would warm up the men before they
headed above deck to begin the day’s work. At lunchtime, the same
process would be repeated as it would be at dinnertime, and then yet
again before hitting bed. Somewhere in between doses of rum these rugged
souls even found time to fish. Not only would the butter add a certain
heartiness to the rum, it also gave it a delicious creamy taste that
complemented the sweetness of the liquor wonderfully. It goes without
saying that our version, blended here with a good strong Ceylon is the
perfect drink to brew when the sky threatens thunder and rain. Serve it
nice and hot with a dash of milk to really bring out the creamy
sweetness of this great blend. |

GRAND MARNIER Loose Leaf Black Tea
Delicious hot or iced, this is one tea
that will make you stand up and say merci!
Black tea,
Elder Blossom, Orange peel, Natural flavours.
2oz. for $2.99 ~ 4oz. for $4.79 ~ 8oz. for $7.69
Cup Characteristics: All the
flavor of a delicious orange liqueur combined with the goodness of tea.
Excellent after dinner!
The bouquet of Grand Marnier, the most famous French
liqueur, is an unexpected mélange of Cognac, and juicy orange. The
combination was discovered by Louis Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle, while
experimenting in his laboratory at Neauphle-le-Château, in 1880. Louis
Alexandre's lab was attached to the distillery founded by his
grandfather-in-law who had been producing cognacs and brandies since
1827. At the time of its debut, Gran Marnier was considered something of
a sacrilege by French purists who believed that the pure flavor of
Cognac should never have been altered by the addition of fresh West
Indian orange peel. Well, we're glad that Louis Alexandre overcame the
criticism! In the spirit of invention and discovery, the Master Blender
tried blending a high-grown Ceylon tea with the sweet flavor of Gran
Marnier and voila, a fantastic new tea was created. |

Loose Leaf Black Tea

memories of days in the sun. Wonderful served hot & makes a stunning
iced tea.
Memories
of happy days in the sun. Stunning over ice!
2oz. for $2.99 ~ 4oz. for $4.79 ~ 8oz. for $7.69
Cup Characteristics: Fresh,
piquant mango character with memories of happy days in the sun. Stunning
over ice. Black tea, Calendula petals, Natural flavors.
Mango, (Latin: Mangifera indica), sometimes known
as the “king of fruit”, is one of the most commonly consumed tropical
fruits in the world. They were originally grown in East India, Burma,
and the Andaman Islands, around the 5th century B.C., but are now
cultivated in just about every warm corner of the globe. Besides being
pulpy sweet and delicious, mangoes have long been associated in the
Eastern world with peace, tranquility, and harmony. Legend has it that
the Buddha himself would often seek repose in a grove of mango trees. In
certain parts of India it was believed that mango trees were sacred, and
a symbol of love – some even believed that mango trees could grant
wishes. Even to this day Hindus hang fresh leaves from mango trees
outside their doors during Ponggol, the Hindu New Year, as a blessing
for peace in the New Year. We believe that this mango tea can bestow the
same blessing on those who brew it. Try some yourself; savor the
pleasant and rich flavor of mangoes blended with our astringent Ceylon
tea and think good thoughts. |

Cup Characteristics: This rich
and thick flavor evokes a warm ‘Welcome Home’! A dash of sugar adds to
an already delicious flavour.
Magical properties! It is said that Vanilla calms
the nerves, lifts the spirits and improves the romantic aspect of one’s
life. Vanilla is an extraordinary flavor, full of mystery and
elusiveness that is often taken for granted. Undoubtedly one of life’s
little secrets which is also widely used in medicinal concoctions to
make them more palatable. Thus a ‘magical’ flavoring agent, calming the
mind and body! Did you know that vanilla is the only edible fruit of the
orchid family. There are two types of vanilla that are used for
commercial purposes – Bourbon and Tahitian. It is the worlds most labor
intensive agricultural crop, taking up to three years after the vines
are planted, before the first flowers appear. Vanilla has a long history
of robbery and intrigue as it is very expensive and highly prized and in
growing countries it is not uncommon for vanilla rustling to occur. As
there are about 150 varieties of vanilla, it is certainly a flavoring
agent that is suited to one’s personal tastes. |

CEYLON BLACK TEA
INFORMATION
What
type of tea do we use, how do we flavor the tea and why do we use
natural flavors?
Firstly...
Only use high grown teas from the top 3 tea growing regions of
Sri Lanka - Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula and Uva are used. These three
high-grown districts produce flavorful teas that have classic ‘Ceylon’
tea character which is noted by floral bouquet and flavor notes, touches
of mild astringency, bright coppery color and, most importantly -
perfect for use as the base tea of our flavored teas. (We have tested
teas from various other origins around the world as base stock for our
flavored teas, but none of these teas made the grade.) Dimbula and the
western estates of Nuwara Eliya have a major quality peak during
Jan/Feb, whereas Uva and the eastern estates of Nuwara Eliya have their
peak in July/Aug. This ‘dual peak period’ allow us to buy the best
for our flavoured tea blends several times during the year, ensuring top
quality and freshness.
Secondly... Flavoring oils not crystals are used to give
the tea drinker an olfactory holiday before indulging in a liquid tea
treat.
Thirdly...
Natural flavors are specified. High quality tea tastes good and
natural flavors do not mask the natural taste of the high grown Ceylon
tea. (The norm for many making flavored tea is to use overpowering
artificial flavors, which can be used to hide lower quality tea).
Natural flavors do not leave an aftertaste giving the tea a clean and
true character. It should be noted that natural flavors tend to be
somewhat ‘soft ‘ and the flavors slightly muted, but for many this is a
refreshing change and one of the desired attributes of our naturally
flavored teas. |
